Developing Strategy in Times of Turbulence

August 6, 2020

We have to look up, way up, out of the weeds of daily planning, to see what is really happening in the world. Major industry sectors, including business travel, education, and real estate - are being reset. How well you respond is really about how clearly you see the future.

if you are waiting for things to get “back to normal” before you create a new reality for your future, you will be sorely disappointed. There is no “going back the way it was before” as the world has profoundly changed and will continue to do so in the next four months. Time really does equal lost opportunity.

The famous management guru, Peter Drucker, understood the importance of developing strategy during uncertain times. He left us with many quotes of wisdom, but this one seems to be unusually relevant now.

“The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday’s logic”
— Peter Drucker
